It wasn’t geographically necessary that Christ travel through Samaria, rather there had been an immutable appointment made by God, that necessitated He go. With some careful study I believe we can find His reason far exceeds anything of convenience or of mileage…it was an election necessity. It doesn’t scare me to use that word- ELECTION. That’s a good word. That’s a Bible word. No Jewish bigotry would hinder his path. No band of thieves would stop Him. No legion of fallen angels would keep Him from His appointed path.
