Because Aaron and his priesthood were about serving a copy and shadow of the true tabernacle and Christ is the High Priest of that the true tabernacle, which is a much better ministry, He must be ministering in it through a better covenant. Israel entered into covenant with God in Exodus 24, a covenant that was faulty in reconciling people to God because they did not obey all things that God commanded. Since God found fault with them, He promised to establish a better covenant in Jeremiah 31. In Jeremiah 31, God spoke about how He would rescue a remnant and from them make a people who would be His people and He would be their God. The first covenant with Israel did not make them His people because it was a covenant based on the law which could not transform a people. Therefore, He had to enter into a new covenant sealed with the blood of the perfect sacrifice, Christ, which would transform their hearts and minds.
