As we return to Hebrews from finishing Exodus, we hear the main point of what the writer has been saying. From the beginning of the book, he has been emphasizing that Christ was different than any of the other high priests, because He is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. The earthly high priests could approach the earthly throne of God once a year. Christ is seated next to the real throne in heaven. He is the minister of the true tabernacle which God created and not man. High priests were appointed to offer gifts and sacrifices. In that aspect, Christ has the same responsibility. Christ fulfilled the requirement for sacrifices, but he is also to minister over the offering of gifts. The earthly tabernacle was a shadow of the heavenly tabernacle, so just as God expected offerings to be made at the earthly tabernacle, offerings are to be made at the heavenly. We find from the rest of the chapter that the offerings are walking in righteousness.
