The Vision of Obadiah_02 Obadiah 10-14 Because we have received God's grace and mercy, we are to have compassion and concern for the oppressed and distressed in our culture.Obadiah provides ample ways to condemn the prideful acts of our lost world. We are, in many ways, living in the modern day land of Edom and the parallels between then and now are striking. We have all had moments when someone close to us wronged us and got away with it. It hurts more to be hurt by a person close to you. We wonder: Will justice ever be served? The book of Obadiah doesn't just ask this question, it answers it. Most likely, however, Obadiah prophesied at the time of the Babylonian invasion; it seems that he was a contemporary of Jeremiah and saw what Edom did to the fleeing Jews. when we are wronged by our loved ones, instead of remaining victims or becoming avengers, we rest in God.We can know that God will enact justice, in his way and his time. when we are wronged by our loved ones, instead of remaining victims or becoming avengers, we rest in God.We can know that God will enact justice, in his way and his time. When Christ comes again, there will be everlasting curse and damnation on his left hand, but everlasting bliss and salvation on his right. Hell is as deep as heaven is high.
