The Vision of Obadiah03 Obadiah 1:15-21 Obadiah promised the people of Judah that God will keep the promise he made to Abraham. His people will receive redemption and their promised inheritance. Jesus fulfilled the promises made to Abraham. Those who believe in Jesus receive redemption and their promised inheritance (Col. 1:9-14; Heb. 9:15). Six Promises of Obadiah in the Last Days! 1. God promised that all nations will soon face the Day of the LORD (vv. 15-16).2. God promises that Jerusalem (Mt. Zion) will be delivered from the hands of all enemies and that the city will be made holy (v. 17).3. God promised that Jewish believers (Jacob's house) will finally inherit the land that was promised to Abraham and his descendants—all who truly believe and follow the LORD faithfully.4. God promised that Jacob and Joseph (both the Southern and Northern Kingdoms) will be reunited and that Israel will become the dominant nation on earth (v. 18).5. God promised that Israel will reoccupy the lands lost to other nations through the centuries (vv. 19-20).6. God promised that godly leaders (deliverers) will govern Edom as well as all the other nations of the earth (v. 21).As much as Obadiah is a book about sin and judgment, it is also one of hope. And as believers today, we have an even greater hope reading it because we have seen the promise begin to come to fruition in Jesus.
