What are the essential doctrines and biblical practices we would desire this local church to still be proclaiming, if SGRBC were still in existence as a local church, a thousand years from now?
There are four major distinctives that we would want maintained a thousand years from now. We argue from the lesser to the greater.
I. Baptist What does it mean to be a 'baptist'?
II. Christian What does it mean to be a 'Christian' Church? The world gets this definition wrong.
III. Evangelical What is an 'evangelical'? What are the the essentials of the faith, and what are the fundamental and unalterable doctrines that describe us as 'evangelical'?
IV. Reformed The bulk of the message deals with this aspect of our belief -- 'the doctrines of grace'.
1. Total Depravity Gen. 6:5; Jeremiah 17:9; Romans 3:10-18
2. Unconditional Election Everyone believes in election, but this is UNCONDITIONAL election. Acts 13:48; Ephesians 1:3-8; 2 Thessalonians 2:13
3. Particular Redemption John 10:15; 11:49-52
4. Effectual Calling John 6:37, 39, 44, 63-66; Acts 16:14
5. Preservation of the Saints Philipians 1:6; John 10:25-30
