Psalm 19 masterfully depicts the perfect ways that God has chosen to reveal Himself. He has chosen to reveal Himself through His world and through His Word. In vv. 1-6, we see God's revelation through Creation. Paul also references this in Romans 1, explaining how God has been revealed through His creation, so that mankind is without excuse. In vv. 7-11, we see God's revelation through Scripture. In 2 Timothy, Paul clearly states that all Scripture is breathed by God. In vv. 7-9, David gives six truths about Scripture. Law, testimony, precepts, commandment, fear, and rules all come from the Pentateuch and refer to the Mosaic covenant. In vv. 10-11, we learn that our belief in these truths leads us to eternal gratification. May we trust in the testimony of Yahweh with all our hearts and may our prayer be like that of the Psalmist in v. 14 that the words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts would be acceptable in His sight! |
