God, we learn in this Psalm, proves to us that He is great and glorious. In verse 14 we learn that we are a people near to Him. We learn of great things in nature, awesome creatures; the heavens; the sun; the moon and stars which God brought into existence. Angels too, owe all their form and qualities to God Himself. All that God has made is called upon to praise Him.
How can there be peace between this great God and us. It is possible, for in this verse, He calls these feeble people His people, His saints, His children. They are foreknown by Him, chosen before they were ever born, to be His own special people. We are near to Him by sovereign choice; in His affections, as He loves us dearly; we are near to Him in our fellowship with Him, and one day we will be near to Him in Glory.
Although, at times He may feel far from us, whatever our circumstances may be – whether in illness, acute trial, uncertainty or near to death - He is near to all His people and always will be.
