We know that these metaphorical pictures refer to death for the 7th verse spells it out in its literal physical and literal spiritual descriptions for us. “Then the dust will return to earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it.” This evening I would like to take you on a short tour of what physical death will mean for each one of us, whether we are a believer in Christ, or an unbeliever without Him. For every person it will mean these 3 things. It will mean that the Silver Cord is loosed. 2nd – It will mean that the body will turn to dust. And 3rd – It will mean that the spirit will return to God who gave it.
