Thesis: How should we live and be prepared for Christ return
1.The master, Christ is coming back at a time in which we do not know. This is really the overarching truth that drives the entire parable.
>We are commanded to keep watch because we know neither the day nor the hour
>Jesus is in heaven interceding for us now
2.The master, Christ entrusts His property to us, each according to his or her ability.
>He entrusts certain things to His servants whom He will leave behind.
>The Lord gives gifts to His children, each to our own ability.
>cultivate and pursue spiritual gifts
3.We will have to give an account to the master, Christ for what we have done with the things entrusted to us by Him.
>The return of Christ ought to be something that brings us great joy to think about, as believers.
>We will all stand before the judgment seat of Christ, and will have to give an account of ourselves to God.
4.Let us use what we have been given and not be caught idle when the master, Christ returns.
>Christ pending return to earth ought to motivate us to be diligent servants of His
>If you do not know Christ you will meet Him one day and be judged by a righteous judge.
>You need a defender--Christ the God man who was punished in your place.
>Repent of your sin and turn to Christ!
CONCLUSION: Let us stay awake by being active in using what the master has given to us, that we may hear “Well done, good and faithful servant”. |
