Can you believe it? In its major productions, Hollywood does not espouse a Christian worldview! In fact, the worldview incarnate in these culture emanations are actually dangerous to human society! Kevin Swanson reviews the outrageously popular Hunger Games: Catching Fire on this edition of the Generations broadcast with his daughters Emily and Rebekah.

Great Sermon! It is entirely accurate that the Hunger Game books/movies do not have a Biblical Worldview. BUT do we?
It is so easy to profess to be a Christian and yet follow the hyporcisy of the Pharisees who sought to impose an external righteousness upon others.
The fictional Hunger Game books, entertainingly can remind us to REMEMBER WHO THE REAL ENEMY IS, in these books there were two tyrannts one from the Capitol and one from the rebellious District 13
For us as believers we so need the grace of God to have the work of the Spirit and the word in our hearts so that we genuinely live by faith in Christ, our Savior and Lord, the very best of all Masters, who is worthy of being the first and foremost love of everyone who has ever lived or ever will.
Something we do not need "magistrates" to impose upon us externally but "Preachers/Prophets" to declare the Truth of Christ to us from the Scriptures
that Romans 10:13-15,17 in context would be a blessed experiential reality to us saved by God and for God.

I agree 100% with chefjim!
To even talk of such things is shameful for disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.
What a low ebb we are in!

John Calvin's Mature View On Resistance To Tyranny The following quote speaks of John Calvin's mature thinking about resistance to illegitimate civil rulers. "One factor behind this rising tension was that Huguenot political rhetoric had required a decidedly anti-royalist tone during the second and third civil wars. While Calvin’s Institution of the Christian Religion seemed to suggest that private citizens owed their obedience even to an ungodly king -- only lesser magistrates could legally oppose the authority of a wicked king -- his biblical commentaries published late in his life offered more intriguing possibilities. In his Readings on the Prophet Daniel first published in 1561, Calvin argued that when Daniel refused to obey King Darius, ‘he committed no sin’, since whenever rulers disobeyed God, ‘they automatically abdicate their worldly power’. Calvin went even further in his Sermons on the Last Eight Chapters of the Book of Daniel published posthumously in 1565. Describing the same biblical incident, Calvin argued that when Kings defy God, ‘they are no longer worthy to be counted as princes… [And] when they raise themselves up against God… it is necessary that they should in turn be laid low’." - Mack P. Holt, The French Wars of Religion 1562-1629, (New York: Cambridge University Press, 1995, 2005), p. 78.

John Knox On Resistance To Tyranny, Ungodly Gov. John Knox was also very clear about what the Bible teaches regarding qualifications for civil rulers.
"No manifest idolater, nor notorious transgressor of God's holy precepts, ought to be promoted to any public regiment [i.e. government—GLP], honour, or dignity, in any realm, province, or city that has subjected itself to his blessed evangel". - John Knox, from "Summary of the Proposed Second Blast of the Trumpet" (1558), as cited in Greg Price, Biblical Civil Government Versus The Beast; and The Basis for Civil Resistance -- free online book at http://ow.ly/l9G2i or http://www.swrb.com/newslett/F REEBOOK/GPrice.htm

Rutherford On Resistance To Tyranny, Ungodly Gov. One of the Scottish Commissioners to the Westminster Assembly (and one of the best theologians, by God's grace, in the history of the Church), Samuel Rutherford, wrote,
"I lay down this maxime of Divinitie; Tyranny being a worke of Sathan, is not from God, because sinne either habituall or actuall, is not from God; the power that is, must be from God; the Magistrate as Magistrate, is good, in nature of office, and the intrinsecall end of his office, Rom. 13:4. for he is the Minister of God for thy good; and therefore a power ethicall, politick, or morall, to oppresse, is not from God, and is not a power, but a licentious deviation of a power, and is no more from God, but from sinfull nature, and the old serpent, then a license to sinne." - Samuel Rutherford, Lex, Rex, or the Law and the Prince (1644, on the Puritan Hard Drive)

WHAT?! We need a new name for a person who actually follows Christ. "Christian" is too broad a term now-a-days and includes tattooed, pierced, partying, fornicating, worldly hedonists.
I like to imagine that Jesus is sitting next to me. I ask the question, would I take Jesus into this movie theater with me? If the answer is no, and it should be, don't go! IF the answer is yes, you are desensitized to the world. Period.
I don't know what kind of Christian likes H-wood movies especially NEW H-Wood movies. Kevin said it best when he said 95% of so called Christians still go to H-wood movies, hence the need for a new name for saved people.
I can't figure out how any Spirit filled Christian could go and PAY money to sit and be "entertained" by this garbage and that is what it is, all of it, GARBAGE. Take your $20 (is that what a movie cost? I don't know, I haven't been in a movie theater in almost 20 years. The last movie I paid to see was Titanic and that was only because everyone, even church members said it was good. I didn't like it)and give it to the poor.
