The whole praetorian guard had come to know why he was there; that he was not a criminal, but that he was there because of the gospel. The sovereign providence of our glorious God caused this to come about. People thought that Paul would be shut up in prison. But God overruled this for the progresss of the gospel and so that no one could boast. It is something for Jesus if we think and speak about Him and his glory. It is something for Him if we acknowledge and trust his sovereign will.
