(A brief 6-minute excerpt from a word I shared in our Acts series.)
Clinging unto Him… we want to be so stuck and glued to Jesus and His faith-builders that we and them are inseparable.
Barnabas encouraged them with a purposeful heart. He laid it before them to cleave or to stick unto Jesus, to continue with Him. And then we see as that work continued to unfold, what did people start calling them there in Antioch? Yes, they called them Christians. They identified them, the disciples, with Jesus. Now what's the point of that? I believe it's this, when we stick to Jesus, Jesus sticks to us. And when Jesus sticks to us, people see Jesus in us. Because when you see Jesus in us, you can't help but see the grace of God at work. And we need people to see Jesus in us. But that doesn't happen unless we stick to Him, cleave to Him, glued to Him — being inseparable from Him.
"...when Barnabas came and had seen the grace of God, he rejoiced with gladness, and encouraged them all, THAT with purpose of heart they should cling/stick unto the Lord" (Acts 11:23).
