As we move through the Solomon's apology for a life well lived, it behoves me to express in a variety of ways, or a variety of statements what I think the book is all about so that we might not only better know what God is saying, but more faithfully apply this inspired portion of Scripture. To interpret rightly, leads to a more faithful Christian life, which should be our entire aim - glorying and delighting in the Godhead and one another. Leland Ryken states, "The theme of the book, far from being a problem, is a virtual summary of the biblical world view: life lived by purely earthly and human standards is futile, but the God-centered life is an antidote." Here Solomon turns to his own observations through wisdom and experience to reflect upon the limits and futility as he evaluations the these given to men to do.
