This thirty-sixth message from Romans presents a general OBLIGATION that every believer is commanded to obey - our priority is to owe nothing but love. Thus, Paul's main point is that we love our neighbors as ourselves. The purpose behind this command is that love never does any wrong (harm, evil or injury) to a neighbor, so it is always the right thing to do. Understanding the command, our OBSERVANCE (customary practice) will come freely and wholeheartedly. As saved individuals awaiting our Lord's return we will follow Paul's instructions to: wake-up - realizing the opportunity to act like Jesus and sacrifice for our neighbors; suit-up - putting on the armor of light because the day is at hand; straighten-up - behaving properly and not selfishly; and wise-up - obviously display the Lord Jesus Christ and never be preoccupying yourself with fleshly pleasures. Jesus Christ will return soon!
