No expert has ever been as qualified for his trade as the Servant was qualified by God for His mission. Every detail of the Servant's life spoke of the staggering wisdom of God. In this second Servant Song, God opens up the inner thought life of His delightful Servant and allows us to look in.
Although the Servant is qualified to accomplish His mission, and He is labouring in the mission field, He has become weary and is questioning why He sees no fruit for His labour. If He truly is God's man for the job, why is it that God has not granted Him success?
We then see how the Servant thinks through this difficulty and comes to the conclusion that there is a difference between what is actually happening, and what SEEMS to be happening. Even though it doesn't SEEM He is accomplishing the mission of God, He actually IS.
God then opens up a sneak preview of the final glory the Servant will bring Him as He accomplishes the mission. While the worls scoffs, The Servant will suddenly be revealed, robed in the glory of God, and sieze total, permanent control of this world.
All of this glory came from the Servant's willingness to live an ORDINARY life and to simply continue in FAITHFUL service on a daily basis, regardless of how things SEEMED. May God grant us the grace to do the same.
