The book of Micah is broken into three major sections, all dealing extensively with Israel's long-standing apostasy. Corruption is rampant among rulers, the prophets are bought and paid for by the corrupt rulers - yet the problem extends into every household as the people of Israel go full-swing into idolatry, worldliness, covetousness, and more. They are to be a godly people, but godly people are nowhere to be found. God, being a just God, cannot tolerate it and comes forth from His chambers like a judge to pronounce His verdict: they will suffer under His wrath and their children will go into exile, yet He gives a promise of redemption through the coming Messiah as He calls His people to love justice, do mercy, and walk humbly with their God. |
