Today, we are going to catch up with Jesus in Jerusalem. He has entered the city of the Great King, Jerusalem. He is the rightful heir to David’s throne. He is the Master Teacher, High Priest after the order of Melchizedek, and the Ultimate Sacrifice as the Lamb of God. Regardless of His eternal person, excellent titles, and extraordinary miracles, the world would not receive Him. There was no room for Him in Bethlehem when His cradle was a feeding trough and there would be no room for Him in Jerusalem even though He is the heir of all things. However, there has always been room in the hearts and lives of those who need a Savior. In today’s parable, we will hear an earthly story with a heavenly meaning. Jesus speaks the truth in love to those who should have wholeheartedly received Him, yet would yell crucify Him in a few days. We will find that God would take the One who was rejected and build a kingdom. He would take a rag tag band of disciples and build the church upon Himself. This morning, the title will be “Jesus Christ, God’s Son and Chief Cornerstone.” We will consider 1) The Persecution of the Prophets. 2) The Slaughtering of the Son 3) The Rejected Son is the Cornerstone
