Pastor Tim Goad gives us a biblical and historical picture of the disciple and apostle Thomas here and points out that this tendency towards skepticism is not something made famous by him, but that which we all struggle with at times. When trials temptations come upon us, what is it that causes us to stand firmly on the ROCK that is CHRIST, but our faith in HIS word. But what we also see in Thomas here is his declaration of JESUS being LORD and GOD, using the personal pronoun,"MY", of which Tim deals with the ever rampant false teaching that one could profess to be saved and have JESUS as SAVIOR, but unless they allow, HE could never be LORD over their lives. Of this we declare one to never had known CHRIST in salvation at all, for one of the first and fundamental ascribed truths ingrained upon the newly saved believer's heart and soul, is that JESUS is indeed, LORD, GOD, and SAVIOR. And for us, post-pentecostal, it is by faith in HIM and HIS word, through the outworking internal witness of the HOLY SPIRIT, we are able to believe the unbelievable. |
