As our exposition of Luke continues, we see that the Pharisees attempt to chastise Jesus Christ for His disciples' lack of fasting. Christ teaches the nature of true religion - that every spiritual exercise must have Him as the focus. In addition, we see that in the presence of Christ, it is not fasting that is called for, but feasting. But when we do fast, we must afflict our souls, seeking Jesus Christ who will put an end to fasting at the marriage supper of the Lamb.
