In this message we want to look at the doctrine of sanctification, or maybe I should rather say a brief look at sanctification from the Bible, illustrated with lots of Scripture because the topic is so large and through out the whole book it would take a lot more than this message to explain it all, that is why it will be brief. If you look to the out-line, I have divide the message into 4 points. First is the definition of sanctification. The second, God's illustration of sanctification, and from the Old Testament we will look at what God sanctified and what God decreed to the Israelites of how and what the were to sanctify for His satisfaction. Point number three we'll be looking at Jesus in his role as the justifier and sanctifier of our lives and titled it Christ's Propitiation of Sanctification and tie together the Old and New Testament .And fourthly we will be looking at the Holy Spirit and see how He is to be evident in our lives by the fruits that should be seen in us by others when we walk the Christian walk and claim to be sanctified.
As we look at the scripture that was read for us who can tell me what was the fault of Uzzah? What did he do that was not allowed? He reached out and touched the ark, the text says in verse 6 “Uzzah put out his hand to the ark of God and took hold of it,” and what did God do? He struck him verse 7 “Then the anger of the LORD was aroused against Uzzah, and God struck him there for his error; and he died there by the ark of God.” now why did God do this to Uzzah? Wasn't Uzzah doing a good thing in helping King David move the ark back to the city of David and when the oxen stumbled he reaches out to steady it.
