God has revealed Himself so everyone knows Him and that He exists. Unbelievers make a deadly exchange when they suppress the truth God has revealed to them. No one can make the claim there is a lack of information or that they don't know about God, but will be called into account for their refusal to admit what they did know, and their willful choice to live in spiritual darkness. Despite the claim that more proof or evidence might convince them, that will never be the case.
The root problem for the unbeliever is their rejection of God and the replacing of God for the gods they make up to their own liking. How that rebellion and rejection plays out will be in varying degrees of depravity as God gives them over to what they want.
Rejecting and rebelling against God leads to a depraved, decadent life carried on outside the realm of God's restraining, protective grace. As a result, God gives them what they want and turns them over to the destructiveness of the sin they want to indulge in. The consequences for their sin will be out of their control and will be devastating. By making such a deadly exchange they face the full brunt of God's wrath against their rejection of Him as well as for their sinful lifestyles. The warnings are sounded that the moral consequences for such lifestyles are deadly and disastrous.
