The promise of death being robbed of its power to destroy is like a ray of sunshine amidst the developing storm clouds of terrible Assyrian judgment. This prophetic glimmer of hope has been made much more certain in Christ. 'We do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in our hearts' not only for ourselves but for those who through us may yet hear of such mercy that may yet turn them to God from idols to serve the living and true God…'
