Nothing stops God being God. This is celebrated with ecstasy in heaven and should be our delight and dependence on earth as well. Our attention is directed to a scroll in God's hands. He has made promises about his creation and it is grievous if no-one will enact them. But the conqueror appears, Israel's King, and he makes his entrance as a Lamb, as though it has been just killed.Â
But the Lamb is far from dead. He has horns, and a seven fold Spirit sent into the whole world, and he makes bold to take the scroll. Now all heaven encompasses the Lamb in their worship because the Lamb brings his people out of slavery. He who conquers guilt rules the world. No tyrant, no manipulator of minds can do this; only the Lamb.
May we give our worship to God and to the Lamb and not waste it on lesser fears and fascinations.
