In this his first sermon after the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, the apostle Peter is demonstrating and giving proof from the Old Testament that Jesus was the promised Messiah.
He identifies Jesus by his hometown of Nazareth and states His accreditation by the miraculous signs He did that were foretold to be done by God through the Messiah. Only the Messiah of God could heal diseases, cast out demons forgive sin, and bring salvation as Jesus the Nazarene did before many eye witnesses, many times, and in many places.
Besides the earthly ministry and miracles done by Jesus Christ, He also fulfilled some of the prophecies made to David at this His first coming, setting the stage for the rest to be fulfilled at His second coming. The coming of the Holy Spirit was a third confirmation that demonstrated that Jesus of Nazareth was the long awaited Messiah promised by God.
Peter also directly dealt with the guilt of the Jews for having put Jesus Christ to death. He declared that their action was a part of God's predetermined plan as He used their sinful desires that were carried out by the Gentile Romans.
God's provision of salvation through Jesus the Messiah is for all who will call upon His Name to be saved.
