Tony, Evangelist Robert Gray, Evangelist Mike Stockwell, Pastor Geoff Kirkland, and others joined together to bring the gospel to the students of Southern Illinois University--Edwardsville. While Tony preached the gospel of God's amazing grace and bid students to repent and believe, Robert was engaged in conversation by Tom, a campus leader of CRU (formerly, Campus Crusade for Christ). Tom was opposed to the public proclamation of the gospel. Later that morning, Tony saw Tom approach a lesbian student who, with sign in hand, was protesting the public proclamation of the gospel. Tom gave the girl an affirming "fist bump" and walked away. As Tom approached where Tony and Robert were standing, Tony called to Tom and asked him why he affirmed the girl's mocking of Christ and his gospel. Tom's answer showed the desperate state of CRU and the students the organization influences on college and university campuses around the country.

“ Great Sermon! ” This is a real eye-opener for those who believe that God is only love. There's more to God than love. God is also holy, righteous and just. God has to punish sin.People need to realize this. Friendship evangelism is the biggest scam in American evangelism. Thanks so much for this sermon.

“ Excellent rebuke! ” I remember a bible study I went to that used Bill Hybel's "Just walk across the room." This was a push for friendship evangelism. It was a pathetic joke and can not be backed up in scripture. It was a tool of satan to get people to stop confronting sin and value friendships and relationships over the eternal souls of lost people. This Tom was a classic example of an ineffective "Christian" who is greasing the slide to hell for countless people. I pray Tom repents.
