John 4: 1-6 gets us up to speed with the other gospel accounts. We are chronologically at the point where John was thrown into prison. jesus withdrew to Galillee. Jesus is fleeing because His hour had not come. Jesus is in sovereign control of His own life. He will willingly give up His life and take it up again. in verse 4 it says that He had to pass through Samaria. Geographically He was not restrained. It was necessary or a must. It was a Divine Necessity. Jesus must needs go through Samaria. He must go because a nameless and immoral woman must needs be saved, and others in Samaria as well. The same is true of us whom the Lord saved. He saved us at the right time, not a moment too soon or a moment too late. The Spirit led Jesus to Samaria. He has the Spirit without measure, in perfect communion with His Father. Are we in such communion with the Father that we will be led to bring the good news to those who need it? Would we be those who would be in step with the Spirit so that we would have the answer. We don't need to have tactics. We want to be those who those whom we are talking to know that we are the Presence of God.
