For the next couple of weeks we will be taking a break from Luke as we address the subject of worship. Is worship primarily for God or for us? Do we come to church primarily to give or to receive? Many of us are concerned when churches focus their worship on pleasing a human audience rather honoring God. But there is a sense in which we receive far more from worship than we give. The key issue is what are we seeking when we come to worship. Do we see worship as a means to receive more of what the world offers (pleasure, success wealth)? Or do we worship to gain what we most need from God – to be spiritually strengthened so that we can more fully grasp the greatness of His glory and His love (Eph. 3:14-21)?
