INTRO: We have seen Paul's first digression from sharing his prayers with the Ephesians that he prayed for them. That was chapter 2, and Paul shared with them the marvel of the Gentile's salvation. Once they were without God and without hope in the world. It was a hopeless situation. But then God removed the fence and brought the Gentiles near by the blood of Christ. And now they can boldly enter the holy of holies!
And as Paul was about to continue his subject of sharing his prayers for them with them, his thoughts side-tracked him once more, and now he reveals to them the mystery of the salvation of the Gentiles. Here he reveals to them what God had revealed to him which had never before been revealed to any of mankind. The mystery is that of the Church; Jew and Gentile in one body. And the Church age has now been in progress for 2,000 years, and we believe it will soon be caught up to heaven, and then God's plan for the Jew will resume.
