We tend to pursue the delights of our hearts until we attain them, or until they completely evade us. Throughout our lives that which we find delight in may change and we will often feel unsettled until we know true contentment.
As we begin a series on 'The Psalms and Prayer' with Psalm 1 this week, we will see that it is those who delight in the law of the Lord who know the blessing of the Lord– they are forever well nourished, fruitful and prosperous. Those who settle in the way of the wicked find themselves dry, lacking in substance and ultimately, without true rest.
May the Lord teach and transform us to delight in him and his law, and incline our hearts to his Word, which are the very source of life itself– a lamp unto our feet and a light unto the path of righteousness in Christ.
