God's Word Read and Applied Scripture: Acts 15:1-21 Text Acts 15:6-12 Sermon: DO THE GENTILES NEED TO BE CIRCUMCISED? PT. 2 Points: I. The Reminder of Peter (vss. 7-9) II. The Logic of Peter (vss. 10-11) III. The Testimony of Paul and Barnabas (vs. 12)
Acts 15 is perhaps one of the most important chapters in the Scripture. From the days of Abraham God had chosen Abraham's seed to be the seed of promise. From then until Acts 10, in order for a non jew to be saved, they needed to be circumcised and begin keeping the Law.
There were those who said that for Gentiles to be saved, they would need toi be circumcised and keep the Law. The passage brings into the sharp relief the requirements for salvation. Was faith enough or did their need to be more?
This will be the disputed issue in this chapter.
In this, our Second Study, we consider verses 6 through 12 and hear both the Apostle Peter's and Paul and Barnabas's account of the Lord's working through the Holy Spirit to to broaden the New Testament Church to include Gentile believers on the basis of His Work in their lives.
