Thesis: Regardless of your position in the church, how "much" of a Christian you are and how much theology we know; every believer is called to "preach", or proclaim the work of Christ in salvation in their spheres of influence and habitation.
1. PROCLAIM GOSPEL POWER (vs. 1-2) * "proclaim" = herald the truth, not opinion * God's Word is power, not our oratory skill * we are to trumpet/brag about Jesus' work * we should be passionate/eager to spread Jesus' fame; lift up his glory * Proclaiming Word will bring out every verse, command and principle, as well as everything about Jesus we need to know (Luke 24:27). * Proclaimed Word carries ultimate authority - as such, God is solely able to judge all
2. PROCLAIM GOSPEL PERPETUALLY (v. 2) * "in season or out of season" = when it is convenient or inconvenient; regardless of reception of it * As we purpose our lives for vacation, work, etc, how much more should we plan for kingdom work and spreading gospel * Since gospel is answer to every problem, we are to unpack and apply it in every situation * It always shapes, transforms thinking
3. PROCLAIM GOSPEL PURPOSEFULLY (v. 2) * should exhort the hearer * show others their need for Christ * should aim to lead hearer to repentance
4. PROCLAIM GOSPEL PROPERLY (v. 2) * bring with consistent patience (longsuffering) * cover rebuke with instruction * true proclamation explains what is proclaimed * explain = reach others where they are at
