Ps 25 is a prayer for guidance and a confession of sin; Ps 26 is a statement that the king has followed the guidance and therefore continues to request the deliverance. If someone asks you for advice, you generally want to know whether they followed your advice before you do any more to help them. Well, the king comes back to God and says "You led me in your truth and taught me. Here's the result of that: I don't sit with the wicked; instead, I meditate on your truth and walk in it. So now please redeem me and be gracious to me." In this psalm, the king teaches us to pray that God would examine us, he describes his own life to show us what receives God's approval, and then describes the reward that comes when God does examine and vindicate you.
