We are considering commandments from the Lord Himself. Commandments from the law of God, which set the standard. Rules, you might say, which are to be strictly observed. They permit of no slackness, argument or questioning, as these rules have come from the divine Commander Himself.
The Commandments of the Lord are pure, coming to us from the purest and most loving heart, from God Himself. They are intended for our spiritual good. They are, as Scripture tells us, 'enlightening to the eyes', thus helping us to see the way out of any temptation, and our sin.
Did not Christ say in John 14:15 "If you love me, keep My Commandments". |
