Jesus chides the religious leaders of his day for knowing how to 'discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times.' What are the signs of the times that we are living in the last days? One of the signs that we are living in the last days prior to the end of the age and the coming of Christ is the general moral condition of mankind. Jesus said that it would be like in the days of Noah and Lot before His return. In the days of Noah and Lot, man was evil or rotten to the core. Mankind had lost its moral compass. Paul, in 2 Timothy 3, describes the 'perilous times' in which we are now living with a laundry list of moral qualities evident today. But mankind was not only evil or rotten to the core, but also given to sexual perversion. Paul, in Romans 1, describes what happens when God is factored out of society resulting in the degradation and disintegration of society. We see that downward spiral today in our own society. And then another sign of the times is that people will be indifferent to impending judgment. They know God's judgment is coming but could care less. How are we to live in a decaying moral climate? We need to limit our exposure to immorality and we need to be a light in this dark world, holding to and forth the "words of life."
