Jesus knows that often times people think that they want to follow Him, without even knowing what it will cost. If we want to follow Jesus, it will result in a radical change in lifestyle. This world is not our home. Christians are first and foremost followers of Jesus Christ. Persecution in the early church caused many to flee and with the move, the Gospel was carried to other parts of the world. Jesus speaks honestly when He states that following other people, even family, is not more important than following Him. If we are going to follow Jesus, nothing else competes, Jesus is Lord. Are you ready to give your, life to Jesus, give Him everything? When Jesus said “Follow me”, He got into the boat and His disciples followed Him. No matter where we are called to serve the Lord, we will need to do the ordinary tasks. In the midst of the ordinary, we are to display His power. Jesus is so powerful that even the wind and the waves obey Him. God is at work, we must not forget this. When people prefer darkness instead of light, disaster will happen. In verse 18 Jesus gave orders to cross the other side of the lake, and since Jesus said to go, they are going. We need to know what God says and we need to follow Jesus. Jesus came to rescue us, let’s be part of the rescue.
