Trusting Him… an object of trust, personal trust in a Person.
Acts 27 "I trust Him.."
Acts 28:24 "some were persuaded by the THINGS which were spoken, and some disbelieved." It's not the THINGS that people believe that save and deliver… it's a Deliverer that frees and then His truth will continue to free. But things believed — minus the King — leaves a man empty and still at enmity with the King. (John 2 ; 8)
Common and redemptive grace. Salvation is not a plan, it's a Person.
Entrusting ourselves to the Person. We must trust Him. Plans don't save… the Person of the Lord Jesus saves. His plan doesn't apply until we trust Jesus. It's all about Jesus, Jesus, Jesus…
The possibility is real...
You can trust the plan of salvation without trusting the Person who saves and be lost.
But you cannot trust the Person (Jesus) who saves without trusting His plan to save you and others with an everlasting hope.
Notice how this applies to these that wanted to hear about this "sect" that Paul belonged to.
"...And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not. And when they agreed NOT among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word... and when he had said these words, the Jews departed and had a great dispute among themselves" (Acts 28:23-29).
On the surface it sounds noble... but the closer we listen to Paul and observe the actions of those that "believed the things which were spoken" we'll see that these Jews fall short of trusting Jesus.
