SERMON INFO
In this continuing conversation on pop culture, Kevin Swanson contrasts Christian hip hop star Lecrae Moore with country music star Carrie Underwood. How did Lecrae set a better trajectory than "Jesus Take the Wheel" Carrie? Cultural discussions are not easy, but they are important. These stars are no less than pastors who are far more important in discipling the new generation than the old parents and pastors used to be. What should families do in the midst of a cultural revolution? Is there a difference between a kid raised in the manner of Lecrae Moore's genre and a kid raised in a Christian home who rebels against his parents' rules? Kevin points out that the Fifth Commandment is important when it comes to breaking down culture or building it back up.

Because the internet and radio are used to promote evil things such as pornography, fornication, hedonism, etc., then using your logic, I should disregard your message ad worldly, and lacking a fear of God. Thus, everything that You said from lecrae on, can easily be said about your radio program because of the vehicle in which you choose to deliver it. Doesn't seem fair does it. I very much respect your program, and I have listened to you many times before, but I have to disagree on this one. Your overall message about culture was spot on, but let's not stereotype please. After all, the old hymns that you sang as a child were once considered contemporary. I bet the oldpreachers of your youth were screaming for the church to get back to the glory days of real worship music, the Gregorian chants! :)

Mr Swanson. I must say that I do understand the message that you are trying to convey, and it is very much true; up to a point. I agree with everything that you said about Carrie Underwood, but when you got to Lecrae, with all do respect sir, I believe your point fell apart. Lecrae uses rap as a vehicle to reach the youth if this country (including me), and he does a very good job at it. All of the things that you stated that he didn't rap about, he does rap about in other songs. Sir, he cannot rap the entire bible in one song. Lecrae also preaches, teaches, and makes short movies to desperately try to reach the youth, he has blessed me in more ways than I can ever explain. I understand exactly what you are trying to say about culture, I get it, I really do, but your argument falls apart, and here is why. You pretty much have stated that lecrae, because he uses rap as his vehicle praise God, conveys a message that he does not promote the fear of God. The problem is, I can easily use the same logic and flop the scenario on you. I am listening to you right now on my computer via the internet, I can also listen to you on the radio. This is the vehicle that you have chosen in order to get your message out. Because the internet and radio are used for so many evil things

“ Excellent broadcast ”
Very good points about trajectory, content and form. I cannot see how Mrs. Underwood's lyrics correlate with a profession of Christ. How could anyone professing Christ consciously listen to such? Mr. Moore's lyrics were good but - as was aptly pointed out - the form is also expressing a message. Is this form really conducive to spiritual growth? Further: Is not this form yet another step along the path of the youth culture's continuing rejection of/rebellion against the forms of their parents, i.e. the breaking of the commandment to honor your father and your mother? From Bach to Rape Rap - progess, well, yes, but not along the narrow path. Excellent broadcast.

“ Great Sermon! ”
Modern feminism, causes women to be more 'yin' (im not into eastern religions ) and men to become more 'yang' ish in behavior. What I mean is , if the women become more independent, men become more passive, not developed even in their 30s. This is why there are FEWER MEN AT THEIR 30s i believe--women just dont know it.
