We live in an evil world and the Lord would empty minds of thoughts not in accord with this word. We are called to serve God is the day of evil. There are three things that help us in serving God in the day of evil
1. Christ's weapon (26:53a) "thinkest that I cannot now pray to my Father" Christ's weapon was prayer the focus the fervency the freedom
2. Christ's world (26:53b) "and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels" Christ was still Lord of the angels even in the depths of his humiliation Christ understood the world he lived in and we need to do the same We need to understand our citizenship is of heaven We belong to the world of the supernatural We belong to a world where there is no limitation with God
3. Christ's willingness (26:54) "But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?" Christ was under no obligation to us that he had to face such evil But Christ was willing The marvel of his willingness was that he loved us We have to be willing to set aside our rights and realize it is God's cause that matters
