The Sadducees wanted to make Christ's teaching and doctrine about the coming resurrection of the dead seem foolish. This is apparent from the question that they brought to Him. And so they ask it, not thinking that He would be able to answer it, and therefore they would be able to go on insisting that there was no resurrection from the dead. This is such a very important subject for our day as well. There are many people in our day who, like the Sadducees, do not believe in the resurrection of the dead at all. So this afternoon let us first of all look at the question that these men brought. Then secondly we will examine Jesus' answer to their question in terms of the marriage and the body. And thirdly – We want to look at Jesus' answer to their question in terms of the soul. I will make applications concerning each of these points as we go.
