Anger is not in itself sinful. Jesus was angry on more than one occasion that we know of. But for us, anger often results in sin. There are basically 2 sinful ways we can respond to anger. We can BLOW UP (ventilate it) or we can CLAM UP (percolate it). James reminds us that 'The wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.'
