John carefully selected certain miracles so that those who the Father said could read and believe. He is using linear thought to point out signs to prove the point that Jesus is who He said He is. When Jesus chose His disciples He did not choose those who were exactly alike, but He choose men, some of whom had opposing views. We should realize that the whole Bible is true and that God still gives His gifts and speaks to people today. Are we desperate or do we believe in Jesus? We need to move from I hope so, to I know so. People who have doubts about God's word should be pitied. No one should doubt the word of the Lord. God does not lie and He does not make mistakes. After the official took Jesus at His word and found out his son was healed, then he truly believed. The more we walk with the Lord, the more we will find that His word is true. We might not understand all that is in His word, but we would be foolish not to believe. The word of God is true, therefore we should trust Him and obey Him. Take Him at His word. The man took Jesus at His word and departed.
