"God tested Abraham." Unsettling, eh? After years of relative peace & prosperity, Abraham, now perhaps 120+ yrs old & ready to "retire" is confronted with the greatest test of his life. God has been active throughout Abraham's life. Indeed, the story of Abraham is, in fact, the story of his God. Now, once again, God takes the initiative & steps onto the stage of the story & tests Abraham. How does that strike you? What is a test from God? Why would God want to test Abraham? Are you ready to be tested by God? "Examine me, O Lord and try me; test my mind and my heart" (Ps 26:2)
