Great Sermon! When a true child of God hears a man preach, he looks for two things. (1) A sermon that is rich in the Word and full of the Spirit! (2) A sermon that gives God all the glory and puts man where He belongs, i.e. in the dust! After hearing Brother Henry Mahan’s sermons for quite some time now, I have found both these expectations satisfyingly fulfilled. What makes his sermons special are that they are full of the Word and none of them are quoted out of context.
This sermon is no exception. In this sermon Brother Mahan first of all exposes the error of quoting parts of Scripture for our convenience and gives many such examples. For instance, many quote the latter part of John 6:37 – “him that cometh to Me, I will in no wise cast out.” And they leave out the first half of this verse, which says, “All that the Father giveth me shall come to Me!” The reason they do this is because the first half of this verse deals with God sovereignty in salvation and they hate that doctrine.
Not so Brother Mahan. In almost every sermon that I have listened to, he makes it a point to give God all the glory and shows man his inability to save himself. Apart from this, he does what God expects every preacher to do, i.e. not only preach the truth but expose the lie!

What a glorious text for a believer to cling to when the circumstances ,or rather the providence of God as he leads us, seem perplexing,or frightening.
This sermon was a great blessing, preached in a gracious way.
The highest compliment i can give to brother Mahon is this :- If i was on my death bed,and i wanted a time of fellowship with a beleiver before i passed into the presence of the lord Jesus Christ, then brother Mahon is a person whom i would ask for.
