Luke 12:5 But I will forearn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
Yesterday I preached the message, For Whom Shall Ye Fear. In the world today, we here alot of talk about fear: fear of terror attacks, fear of disease, fear of financial meltdowns, and the endless list of fears could go on and on. However, not many people living in our world today have a fear of God! This is evident in the way they treat each other and the flippant way they treat God!
There are many reasons why a person should develop a healthy fear of God. I preached from Luke 12, these reasons, 1. Presence- God's presence is everywhere all the time. 2. Pays Attention- God pays attention to the very smallest what we may consider insignificant things in life, there is a Holy God paying close attention, 3. Power- Jesus said fear him that has power to cast you into a literal burning hell! Your breath you just took while reading this, a Holy Merciful God allowed you to take that breath, your ability to read and comprehend is from that same God, your children, your wife or husband and your very life are in the Hands of a Powerful God! Jesus said Fear HIM!
But sadly to say, most people are in always in Luke 12:13, I call this the PONDERER'S. While Jesus is talking about the Fear of God, Hell, and Blaspheming the Holy Spirit of God, a man in the crowd ask him about gaining earthly assistance over a land dispute. Now imagine that, Jesus has just been talking to the crowd about the most serious, eternal issues, and this guy breaks the conversation to talk about something carnal and earthly!
That is where most people's mind is at today on the carnal! Let us not be guilty of being a PONDERER! Fear HIM for this is the beginning of knowledge (Proverbs 17:1).
God Bless
