This is very appropriate because true wisdom is closely connected to understanding of worthy reward. The fool pursues foolishness because he believes the immediate reward is worthwhile while the wise pursues Godliness because he recognizes the value of Godly reward. In this case, the misspelled “art” of a child’s love letter to mom has far greater meaning than a handful of diamonds. The heartfelt expression of thanks by the husband means more than reaching the top ladder of the corporation. Wisdom is found in understanding this before time gives way to regret. As we consider true and meaningful reward, it is important for husbands and children to understand this as well. Praise becomes praise when it is expressed. Our wives and mothers need to know that their efforts are indispensable, appreciated, and valued. It doesn’t have to be complex and expensive. However, it must be expressed, sincere, and regular.
