For he saith to the snow, be thou on the earth; likewise to the small rain, and to the great rain of his strength. Job 37:6
Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? Or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail? Job 38:22
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. Isaiah 1:18
THE GOOD NEWS FROM HEAVEN TO LOST SINNERS
The good news from heaven to lost sinners, that glorious gospel of salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ, is not a message of God’s hopeful expectation to save, but of a salvation purposed and accomplished. It is not a message of Jesus Christ knocking at the door of the sinner’s heart, hoping to gain an entrance, but of His determination and ability to give a new heart to whom He will. It is not a message of the Holy Spirit striving with the sinner’s natural will, hoping to influence him to decide for Jesus, but of His purpose and ability to make sinner’s willing, causing them to flee to the Lord Jesus Christ (See 2 Tim.1:9; Ps.110:3; John 17:2; Isa.53:11).

PRIDE
“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” (Proverbs 16:18).
Pride can render every other grace useless. Think of all that is lost to pride: salvation is spurned because of pride, spiritual growth is stunted because pride will not allow us to forsake a previously confessed belief, brethren remain separate over some useless controversy because neither is willing to admit to error or to giving the issue too much importance in the first place, deep hurts remain unhealed because pride forbids apologies, secret sins lie on the conscience because pride prohibits confession, the ministry of the church is dimmed as the Spirit of God is grieved by the divisions occasioned by pride. The list could go on and on. And the most ridiculous thing of all is that we humans, of all God's creatures, have the least reason for pride. I could understand the lion's pride or peacock's vanity, but human pride is absurd. No wonder God hates pride (Proverbs 6:16-19). Let us hate it too!

CHRIST OUR SUBSTITUTE
Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified (Matt. 27:26).
God has ordered by His marvelous providence a vivid picture of every believer's Substitute. Barabbas was rightly charged, convicted and sentenced to be executed. He was found guilty of murder, robbery and sedition against Rome. When the executioner came to release him, he was told that a man named Jesus had taken his scourging and crucifixion and that he could go free.
Barabbas is a type and picture of the sinners for whom Christ Jesus died (1Tim.1:15). We stand guilty before the law of God (Rom. 3:19-20). We were justly convicted of great offences against God (Psalm 51:4). We were waiting the just execution by God's holy law and justice and should have been cast away forever. (Rom.6:23). However, by the order of Almighty God, the Lord Jesus Christ was sent to rescue, redeem and release sinners (Matt.9:13; Luke 4:18; Gal. 3:13; 1 Tim. 1:15). Believers no more merit release and rescue than Barabbas did (Eph.2:1-4). But God in His sovereign grace sent the gracious Substitute, the Lord Jesus Christ to take our place and set us free (1Peter 3: 18). Christ Jesus paid our debt to God's law and justice and cleared us of all guilt (Rom. 8:28-35; Gal. 3:10-13). Christ Jesus took our scourging and with His strips we are healed (Isa. 53:5). Christ Jesus took our death and gave us His life (1John 5:12). He took our sin and gave us His righteousness (2 Cor. 5:21). He was condemned though innocent (1 Peter 2:22), that we might be justified though guilty (Rom.8:1). There is infinite merit in all that Christ performed for His covenant people (Heb. 2:17; Rom. 5:6-11).
Surely, it is right to honor and worship the Lamb of God, the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, that taketh away all our sins (Heb. 9:26) and that brings in and freely imputes to us an everlasting righteousness (John 1:29; Rom 4:6; 1John 3:5;). “God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world (Gal. 6:14).
