As a background to our study of the first letter of Peter, it will be beneficial to follow his story through scripture. Consider it his credentials. As readers of his letter, it is important for us to know who he is and what he has experienced. What we'll find is that he is a man that can relate to our weaknesses as well as our common Lord. As an eyewitness to the glorious minsitry and resurrection of Jesus, and filled by the Holy Spirit of God, he is an excellent guide and an authoritative leader of God's people. Read his story as preparation for what God will teach us through his letter.
