The spider weaves its web in anonymity, and this is its genius. If the spider announced its arrival with great fanfare, it would be crushed before the first spin. The wisdom of the spider is that it is quietly opportunistic. How often are we derailed from worthy pursuits because either the opportunity isn’t perfectly set up for success or because our efforts are not properly appreciated? The spider is unencumbered with a need for attention or appreciation. It isn’t equipped with a bark or roar to announce its presence. It simply just works where there is opportunity. Most likely, you will never find a perfect setting to do what God has equipped you to do in life. And most likely, your efforts will not be acknowledged as much as might be deserved. But wisdom is found in taking the opportunities you do have and diligently pursuing them for the glory of God. Whether the opportunity is marriage, ministry, or career, wisdom is found in quiet, diligent attention to the task at hand.
