(Isaiah 62:11-12) O WHAT A GREAT SAVIOR TUNE AWAY IN A MANGER 11.11.11.11. WORDS BY JIM BYRD
1. Christ Jesus the Savior came down from above, In covenant mercy and infinite love; The Lord of creation a servant became, To save all His people, O praise His dear Name.
2. Enthroned in His beauty and all glorious, The Sovereign of ages was made like to us; He humbled Himself and laid glory aside, What wondrous affection for His chosen bride.
3. Our Prophet, High Priest and our glorious King, Descended from heaven salvation to bring; Immanuel came, the Lord with us on earth, The angels and shepherds attended His birth.
4. O what a great Savior is Jesus our Lord, He paid all our sin-debt, our souls He restored; Redeemed by His blood, He our ransom has paid, Now seated in glory in brightness arrayed.
5. All praise to our Savior, our Refuge is He, In Him we are safe throughout eternity; Adore Him and bless Him Who made us His choice, In Jesus alone let the ransomed rejoice.
***** “Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. In His days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is His name whereby He shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.” (Jeremiah 23:5-6) *****
Blessings Most people measure the blessings of God upon them by their bank account, their material possessions, and their physical health. I hope that we are not so foolish, so carnal, so evidently in love with this world. The fact is that ALL OF GOD’S PEOPLE ARE BLESSED OF GOD. You may be poor, you may have no material possessions to call your own, you may be sickly, in constant bodily pain, and ready to die; but if you are in Christ, if you are a child of God, you are blessed – blessed of God with “all spiritual blessings in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 1:9; Ephesians 1:3). Do you see the wording? God has “BLESSED US WITH ALL SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS IN CHRIST JESUS.” Everything that God ever can, ever has, or ever will give to any man He has given to all His people in the covenant of grace in Christ before the world began. – Jack Shanks
***** My Standing in Christ “There is not a just man upon the earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not” (Ecclesiastes 7:20). The word “just” means righteous. We know that the Lord’s people are righteous in Christ, and yet, the inspired writer says that not even a justified person “doeth good and sinneth not.” All believers are aware of our sinfulness knowing that “all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6), therefore we petition the Lord for fresh supplies of pardoning grace (1 John 1:9). While the reality of our wretchedness is ever before us, let us rejoice in the deliverance of sin by the sacrificial obedience of the Lord Jesus Christ which is the sole basis upon which God remains just and justifies the ungodly. It is certainly true that, “in me (that is, in my flesh) dwelleth no good thing” (Romans 7:18), and therefore nothing good can come forth from me. However, it is also true that I am accepted and declared to be the righteousness of God in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21). As my sins were imputed to Him, so His righteousness has been imputed to me. I still mourn over my sins, but I must not sink into depression as though there were no hope. Let me rise from the despair of remorse to rejoice in my Substitute and Savior for He paid my debt and satisfied all the requirements necessary for my salvation. I praise Christ Who “loved me and gave Himself for me” (Galatians 2:20). The Father is well pleased with Him, and with me because of Him. – Pastor Jim Byrd, 13th Street Baptist Church
***** All Shall Come “All that the Father giveth Me shall come to Me; him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out” (John 6:37). “All,” not one, or two, or ten, or a million only, but “all.” And observe wherefore? They are the Father’s gift to Jesus, and therefore they must come. He said elsewhere, “that I should give eternal life to as many as Thou hast given me” (John 17:2). Hence, therefore, there is a blessed provision, a blessed security, that they shall come; for they are the Father’s gift to Christ, as well as the purchase of Christ’s blood; and the promise is absolute in the charter of grace; “Thy people shall be willing in the day of Thy power” (Psalm 110:3). And, to give every possible encouragement to the poor coming sinner, whom God the Holy Ghost is leading by the hand to the all-precious Jesus, He adds, “And him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out.” –Robert Hawker
